A peek into my new bedroom...

I've been wanting to do a room tour post for so so long now; but honestly, I am the most untidy person you will ever meet. It's so rare that my room is tidy, and it's only due to the fact that I have spent the past 4 days tidying, building new furniture, moving things around and having a big clear out that i'm doing this post. I felt like it needed a change, I wasn't making the best of the space I have with it's previous layout and I think it looks so much bigger and prettier now!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I have been to Ikea twice this past weekend (and ended up spending a lotttt more than originally planned - the home furnishings section just screams my name!) so i've had a bit of a make-over. I'll be babbling on a lot in this post so if you can't be bothered to read, feel free to just scroll and enjoy the pretty pictures! (I think the colour effect makes them look so dreamy haha).

So yeah, I went back to a single bed. It's just given me tonnes more room and it's rare that I have people to sleep round anyway. I purchased the Ikea HEMNES DAY BED, and it's described as "a sofa, a single bed, a bed for two and storage in one piece of furniture" and it's THE perfect bed, i'd so recommend downsizing if you don't have much floor space! The three drawers are huge and the whole thing pulls out to create a kingsize bed. I have two mattresses piled on top of each other just in case, and you simply slide it onto the trundle. I doubt i'll ever use it as a double bed, but it's there if I need it. It was pretty pricey at £260, and you have to buy 2 mattresses which are £60-£100 each. So worth it though, look how pretty it is!

I went a bit mad with new cushions too. The lovely thing about this bed is in the day time, you can put cushions round the edge and use it as a sofa. I got 2 x EMMIE PARLA, an EMMIE STRA and a few other plain cushions which were all reduced to around £3 each. The bedding is the ALVINE ORTER set, and it was reduced to £9.60! The thing I love about having a white bedroom is changing the colour theme every season. This time i've gone for dusky pinks and blues, and next Autumn/Winter i'll probably go for purple/wine coloured velvet  cushions.

Above my bed i've got two LACK floating shelves (so cheap at £10 but look amazing!), for now these home flowers, a vintage cake stand with pretty bits and bobs including my ROCKNROSE floral crown, a picture of me and my mum at prom (5 years ago woah!), my Cosmo Blog Award, a few vintage glass pieces and some wigs(?!)

Moving on to my desk area, I had planned to spend £95 on the MALM dressing table, but thank god I had a look round first as I realised it was so easy to make my own. I already had the ALEX drawers and turns out I could just buy a plain white table top and 2 legs to create a desk from them. And the best bit? It only cost £13!

My gorgeous gold mirror was a little gem I picked up at the car boot sale last year. It cost me a whole £5! I love it so much! Here hangs my fave necklace, which spells Lulutrixabelle in scrabble letters - cute right?! It's from Punky Pins.
On to my favourite part of the room... my new shoe shelf! Thank god for Ikea and their ingenious BILLY bookcase which holds around 30 pairs of shoes, catering perfectly to my Jeffrey Campbell hoarding needs. It's super tall and you can even buy an extension to make it even taller. It's thin so hardly takes up any room so I think it's such a great shoe storage solution for any girl! My coat rack (complete with dusty hats, I never wear them!) was a bargain at £8 from a car boot sale, my mum picked it up for me last year and we painted it white.

This EXPEDIT shelf I already had. It's what I bought last year to home my precious shoes, but they were gathering waaaaay too much dust, so that idea was out the window. I kinda regret buying this, it's good for displaying pretty things but my god everything gets dusty. It just doesn't give you much storage unless you buy the accompanying baskets (£15 each - literally cannot even believe I spent £90 on baskets for a shelf I don't even like anymore!) This now homes my magazines (which I never read), baskets for pjs, undies etc, and various bits and bobs.

On top I keep some of my fashion books, just because they look pretty ;) My brick wallpaper is a really cheap one I got last year on eBay - at £4 a roll you really can't go wrong!

My wardrobe is overflowing, i'm constantly having to have clear outs so I can fit new stuff in. It's a built in wardrobe my dad built years ago. Thankfully the wardrobe doors give me a lot more hanging space so that's handy! I then have a second wardrobe which is just a basic white one from Argos (surprisingly my only non-Ikea piece of furniture!)
I got this cute heart wall hanging a couple of years ago for £2 from a car boot sale. I keep my polaroids on it as well as long necklaces and random little bits and bobs.

So there you have it - a little peek in to my haven. I think it's so important to have a room that is filled with personality, it's where I spend a lot of my time just chilling, blogging, watching Friends (and of course sleeping) so it feels good to spend a bit of money on making it perfect for ME. (We all know it will be a total mess by next week but its pretty for now!)

I was really inspired by this IKEA campaign video about a girl who started up her own online shoe shop from her bedroom. It really reminded me of myself with my plans for my little vintage store, and she's such a cutie too!

For advice on improving your home before selling, check out this website, it's really helpful!

Hope you enjoyed! Gonna do a video tour soon.

P.S. here's a cheeky £5 off voucher for Ikea - you all know I love a bit of discount! Just save it and print. I saved myself £10 when using it on two trips :)

The Cosmo Blog Awards are running now, i'd be so grateful if you could  nominate www.LULUTRIXABELLE.com under "best established fashion blog" - only if you like my blog of course! <3 Thank you!
