NOSE JOB DIARIES: THE CONSULTATIONS

Hi guys,

I just wanted to firstly say thank you SO much to everyone for the amazingly positive feedback I have received on my recent nose job announcement post. Never have I ever seen so many views on one post - turns out people are very nosey (excuse the pun!) and almost 10,000 of you have read my post. I have had countless thank you's and congrats on sharing my story, which made me super relieved as I was so nervous to share it. But it's done now and I could not be happier with the response - so yes, a big fat thank you to all of you who have got in touch. I'm so happy to have inspired and helped some of you who are going through the same thing. Surgery isn't a bad thing and I have come to realise it's very taboo to talk about, especially in the blogging world!

I want to keep my journey as open and as honest as possible so thought I would continue with a few more posts on my story, so any of you thinking of doing it (which seems to be lots of you) can get an idea of what goes on.

So why Transform? So after years of researching places to go and get my nose done, I decided to book my first consultation with Transform. The fact that they owned their own private hospitals was a big plus for me. I had it in my head that i'd be on a big ward with tonnes of other people snoring and making noises all night (which if you know me is a big no-no!) - turns out I had my own lovely private en-suite room, with TV, wifi, a button to call the nurse any time I needed her (so great), a place for my mummy to sit, and THE BEST FOOD MENU with an on-site chef! I love my own space (and I love food) so this was all a huge positive when it came to choosing the right company to go with.

Definitely do your research. I have been researching cosmetic surgery clinics since I was 15 years old so i've read and taken in all the information possible, so I knew exactly what I was getting myself in for before I went ahead with it. Transform was the perfect place for me! I felt 100% confident in them from the beginning - all the staff were so lovely and welcoming and put me completely at ease throughout.

I first met Astrid for my pre-consultation who was the patient care co-ordinator at Transform on New Cavendish Street. She was really lovely - I told her my story and she just completely understood how much it meant to me to get this done, and basically just gave me a general idea of what goes on before I met with any actual surgeons. She will also kind of decide whether surgery is actually necessary for you, as i'm sure tonnes of people go in wanting all kinds of surgery when really they don't need it at all! I brought my mum with me to all my consultations, I think it's good to have someone there all the way through for a bit of moral support. It can get quite emotional talking about something so important to you so i'm glad I had her there to help!

I wanted to book in my final consultation as quick as possible - I had waited years for this part of my life to finally come along so I think I managed to find an appointment for a couple of weeks later. It couldn't come around quick enough, I was too excited! I finally met with Mr Lahoud, who I had heard was the top dog of rhinoplasty surgery, so instantly I trusted his opinion. As soon as I walked in he pretty much knew what my issue would be - I said I hated basically everything about my nose and he explained every little bit that could be changed. He took some before photos of my nose and even had an iPad app where you can give yourself a quick nose job to see what you'd look like after!

This of course isn't final, and you are welcome to shop around and decide whether the surgeon is right for you. I'm sure many people go for tonnes of consultations before they find the right surgeon. But I knew straight away, from researching and looking at Mr Lahoud's portfolio, that he was the one! His previous work blew me away, the change in some of his patient's noses were incredible and this just got me so excited to finally have it done. Again I wanted it all to happen quickly, so I booked the first available slot which was exactly 2 weeks away.

This is also the time where your surgeon will determine a price. There was nothing I liked about my nose - I wasn't looking for a subtle change, I wanted it to look different and that of course comes with a price. From researching rhinoplasty for years, the basic price you're looking to pay, in London, is around £3600. As mentioned in my previous post, I had 3 different areas of my nose altered - which meant mine would cost £4300 (including an overnight stay). But considering this was something that was going to change my life forever, I just didn't care! I had it in my head that whatever it would cost, I was going to pay it. I don't think money should hold you back when it comes to something like this. If it's going to make you happy, just go for it. There are finance plans available, which make it pretty easy to pay off over a year or two.

Soon later I had my pre op with one of the nurses, which is basically a medical where he asked me tonnes of questions on my health. I am all round very healthy with no issues/allergies/illness history at all so it all went smoothly, thankfully. Then it was just a case of counting down the days...

In my next post i'll be talking all about the big day - from the actual surgery, to recovery, to scarring, to being at London Fashion Week 10 days after my op!

Hope this was helpful and I will be back next week with more!
